Answer

Meat is very common in low-residue diets because it is thoroughly digested without many leftovers.

The traditional fighter pilot or astronaut breakfast is something like steak and eggs because of this.

Answer

Your body breaks down meat and digests it far more efficiently than vegetable matter. Since eating (mostly) meat and eggs, I have no bloating, odourless bowel movements, no constipation or diarrhea, I eat once a day and I don’t need to eat again for 24 hours. I poop every other day, since there is not much left to excrete - most is absorbed. Vegetarians can’t say the same! Biologically, we are meat-eaters first and we can eat other stuff when meat is not around, but it is the body’s option 2.
