Your body can only utilize so much protein, gains look like a logarithmic growth graph, there is a cutoff where extra protein doesn’t help much
Excessive protein can affect digestion and liver function
Excessive protein in relation to other macros also tanks testosterone supposedly, which is counterproductive for lifting
Dietary fat is needed to properly absorb certain micronutrients, especially ones like Vitamin D, which affect Testosterone, which affects gains
Carbohydrates are not needed, but they can be useful as a tool for lifting and athletics, partially because having some insulin is anabolic to a degree
I don’t think Humans are properly developed to be completely carnivorous, and even carnivores eat fat and not just protein.
I am not familiar with the specifics of the macro conversion process you are referring to, so I won’t talk out of my ass, but I’m pretty sure you’re talking about gluconeogenesis.
Even if you just eat calories from protein, you will still form bodily fat in a caloric surplus I’m pretty sure. And if you are doing bulking and cutting, putting on extra body fat shouldn’t matter that much to you since it’s part of the program.
Anyway, there’s no way to just eat and eat and have 0 body fat gain and have everything go into pure muscle synthesis, if thats what you are asking. Not even with steroids.
Carbs supply a lot of the energy you need to train hard and build muscle. Also carbs release hormones that are anabolic (insulin). Carbs also build your glycogen storage and the muscle building process is suppressed if your glycogen is low or empty.
Fats supply energy but also hormones are made from it, as well as fat soluble vitamins get absorbed with it. Your brains and nervous system are in part made of fat and ‘healthy ‘ fats like omega 3 are building blocks of your brain and cns.
Especially omitting fats can give rise to issues, carbs are highly debated with keto. However all big guys I know eat carbs. Some have done periods of Keto when cutting.
A disbalance as in getting too much can hurt kidneys, give you bowel issues or make you fatterthan necessary.
A part that’s not fully understood is the role of fibers. They influence your immune system, but also mental state and even weight/fat levels (akkermansia). No carbs also means no/little fibers. You really need a lot of fibers!
Calories are calories. If you eat more calories then you burn you will gain body fat, period, balance the caloric intake from each macronutrient. That is the best diet. Each macro is important, and to cut one out is just a bad choice. Each macro has a different caloric density. So I am not saying to eat the same amount of grams of each macro. I am saying get a similar amount of calories from each macro.
