Fasting is cheaper, more accessible, doesn’t require hours upon hours of training. Exercising is great if your goal is to become fit and have a nice looking body, if your goal is to loose weight is a slow (even dull) process.

This is nonsense. Exercise is as essential to human health as nutrition. Apparently, our hunter gatherer ancestors sat around all day on their computers spewing garbage. You cannot fast yourself to good health.

Fasting doesn’t help you put on muscle mass. If you look at all the fasting progress photos people(especially men) end up “skinny fat” if they don’t work out.
I’m not anti fasting either i use it to manage my weight whenever it goes up more than 10lb
Fasting is unfathomable to people who are used to eating every other hour of their waking day. So many people snack or think it’s even a quirk to be snacking.
Exercising is social. You can work out with friends. You can take pics of working out or of the gym and people will cheer you on..
You can’t really do that with fasting or people become concerned or will encourage you to “just eat”.
Losing weight is often and mainly done for health purposes. I don’t think it’s about one or the other but a proper balance…
To answer your question it’s because there was a campaign to push the belief that exercise is all you need to burn calories and “food nutrition” is fine by current FDA standards. This is a leading reason all the “junk food” continues to be viewed as acceptable “nutrition”.
As I said it’s about finding a balance. Fasting for quick results only to gain it back due to poor diet and lack of activity isn’t healthy imo just like eating a bunch of junk food and exercising isn’t.
exercise actually feels AMAZING. One of the greatest joys is life is using your body to its potential and pushing your own biology. Under the influence of exercise you’ll feel ALIVE. Just like listening to music you love or being with people you love, you feel the moment and the power of it all.

Prioritizing fasting for metabolic health is the best use of willpower instead of splitting your focus between physical activity and dietary modification. Emphasizing “calories out” has an insidious role in public discourse because exercise is a small portion of daily caloric expenditure and will increase hunger cues and require more willpower. Fasting is the most efficient use of willpower and increases the likelihood of making a sustainable, positive impact on metabolic health.
There are more potential barriers to exercise than fasting and I think it’s safe to say fasting has a much lower risk of injury than the majority of physical activities.
I strongly believe people overestimate the amount of physical activity needed for supporting a great baseline of health. Too many discount activities like vacuuming, sweeping or yardwork. Add in some consistent walking and you’ll secure most of the benefits of exercise.
I fast 16:8 daily, I also exercise 6 days a week (running/bodyweight/Rebounder workouts).
My goal is to maintain my weight. The longest fast I’ve done is 36 hours, but I just can’t do frequent long fasts and prefer 16:8. I need to be able to fuel my body adequately to recover and prevent injuries.
I love fasting, I feel it makes me a better runner and I love exercise as it’s good for my mental health and I don’t lose muscle definition.
