Why is it easy to find no hormone/antibiotic options for ground beef, but not for beef cuts/steaks?

In the supermarkets nearby me, there are no hormone/antibiotic-free options for cuts of beef in the meats departments. However there are prepackaged ground beef patty products that are hormone/antibiotic-free. Is it something about ground beef that makes it easier or cheaper to produce hormone/antibiotic-free options?

My guess is that it has something to do with demand. I live in an area with good supermarkets and their selection is generally crap (you will never find a grass fed grass finished brisket, for example).

If you’re really trying to upgrade the quality of your meat, find a local farmer that does small scale grass fed, grass finished beef, buy a freezer, and buy it by the 1/8, 1/4, or 1/2 steer. You’ll get cuts of steaks, roasts, and ground beef. You can also buy smaller at a farmers market.

If space is an issue, the best you can probably do is some sort of subscription from an internet company that comes in dry ice.

Suggestion? Visit a local farm or farmers market and look for a vendor. Build a relationship with them and prepare your meals with a bit more deliberation. Beef should be eaten scarcely anyways. It is hugely popular due to paleo/keto type diets but beef fats are among the worst in meat and you can get better protein sources elsewhere. Also this isn’t the sub for this but they are a major drain on the environment blah blah blah. It tastes great no denying it.

I found a local vendor sold at my coop and contacted them directly and the pricing is equal or better then the grocery store. And I can see the cows on my way there freely grazing and happy (another important factor to consider imo when choosing food. You don’t want to consume suffering but again not the sun for that)

Anyways sorry for rambling good luck
