why is it that I can no longer fast as long as I used to?

I used to be able to do 3+ days fasts with no issues now I struggle to fast for longer than 24 hours without feeling extremely fatigued and dizzy. What could be the cause of this and how do I fix it?

I find that it’s getting tougher for me as I lose weight, I haven’t gone over 2 days in a while now. On my current fast I started taking electrolytes right out of the gate and it may have helped, but I also ate quite a bit over the weekend so that could have something to do with it too. My body is very secretive and gives me as little information as possible. lol.

If you have been regularly fasting for 3 days at a time; you are no doubt leaner then you were. The leaner you are, the harder it will be to reduce caloric intake.

The mechanism your body takes to do this is to make you more tired and more hungry.

Answer

Physically it might be electrolytes as others suggest — or not as protein prepared when you do fast — but for me, I know it’s usually because I am not as mentally into it as I was before. You need to dig down and find the motivation you had previously or evolve the enthusiasm and drive so they can carry you forward now.
