Will Coke Zero hinder a weight loss fast?

I know this question has probably been asked before, but will it stop me from losing weight on a 5-day fast?

Answer

Definitely not a hindrance! If you don’t take in any calories for 5 days straight, your weight will decrease. Obviously, Coke Zero isn’t a health drink. But if weight loss is your goal, it won’t derail you.

Answer

I’ll admit I’ve let some random internet comments and mediocre studies taint my view of artificial sweeteners during a fast. I really don’t know the reality but I try to avoid them. I do think it is all mental, though.

Logically if it has no calories then the weight loss benefits will be there. The microbiome stuff and autophagy stuff - who the hell knows? I think it can’t hurt to try it and see how you feel/how much weight you lose. You can always stop drinking it if the results don’t come.

Good luck!

Answer

it can raise your insulin if you drink it alone because your body thinks there will be sugar, but it turns out there won’t be any.

I drank a diet mountain dew on a fasting day and it made me hungry before my fast was over (I rarely feel hungry these days)

you could try it to see how it affects you.

Answer

I trained myself to not crave food after drinking Zero/Light, which took me about a month to control. Zero/Light has become my go-to drink.

Now, drinking it can trick my brain into thinking that I’ve eaten, which helps me extend my fasting phase.

Don’t try this tho. been doing this since 2017

Answer

Since it’s zero calories it won’t hinder fat loss in my experience but it will still spike your insulin, so it may cause cravings. I can usually handle 1 diet drink during longer fasts but if I have more than that in a day it’s caused me to break my fast and eat due to super strong hunger signals/cravings.

Answer

According to Dr Fung, sweeteners can cause spikes in insulin, which will in turn block your body being able to use fat as an energy source.Zero cal drinks won’t cause weight gain (as there’s no energy to convert), but may pause your fast in regards to using that fasted time to burn fat.Hope that makes some sense!
