Will fasting actually make me healthier?

I’m experimenting with diets and was planning to undergo a 3 day fast. How will I be able to tell that it’s actually making me healthier? I read all about the cholesterol-lowering effects, but how can I tell that I’m seeing improvements, personally.

Answer

Why are you doing the fast? Some people do it for weight loss—if you lose weight, that’s an improvement. Some do it for brain function—if you feel focused and sharp, that’s an improvement. One guy just posted recently about fasting clearing up his acne. So what are you hoping to see?

Answer

Short answer yes.

The biggest benefits of fasting are actually about health than weight loss.

After around 14 hours of fasting, the body starts a process of autophagy where the body starts to a process of utilising degraded cells and cellular components. The process really peaks between 5 and 7 days.

When we eat the body has to focus on digesting the food, and when we are not eating the body focuses on fixing the cellular structures inside the body. It does that because certain hormones can only be released when the body stops producing some for digestion.

I have not even scratched the benefits of fasting.
