Will I regain all the weight I will lose? Am I going to ruin my body?

I currently am 50kg and want to godown to 45/44kg. I want to loose the 5/6kg very fast so I thought about water fasting for 10 days. Now I’m scared tho that the water fasting will cause an yo-yo effect, or make me gain more weight after, I reached my goal weight and stopped fasting. So, can someone clear me up if I’m going to gain weight about fasting, and if I’m going to regain back more?

Next to that I also wanted to ask how long if would take to lose 6kg, if my normal body burns only 1200 kcal to survive? How much for you think I will lose in the first week? And how long will it take to get rid off the 6kg?

Answer

If after you lose the weight you go back and do exactly what you did to gain the weight, then yes, it’ll all come crashing back. Likely faster the 2nd time.

Fasting is not the end all - be all. It is a useful tool in weight management. Make good food choices. Prioritize protein and healthy fats and eat to satiety. If you gain weight you’re eating foods you should not have.

If your TDEE is really 1200, it will take about 38 days of fasting to lose 6kg of fat.

There’s no magical yo-yo effect. If you eat too much after you lose the weight, you’ll gain some or all of it back. If you don’t do that, you won’t. Personally I’d eat more than 1200 a day and throw in an occasional fasting day once you hit your target weight.

Answer

Rapid weight loss through water fasting is not a recommended or sustainable method for achieving a healthy weight. Rapid weight loss can result in a “yo-yo” effect, where you lose weight quickly but then regain it just as quickly once you start eating normally again. This is because when you restrict your caloric intake, your body responds by slowing down its metabolism, which can make it harder to maintain weight loss in the long term.

A more sustainable approach to weight loss would be to aim for a slow and steady loss of about 1-2 pounds per week, which can be achieved by making healthy changes to your diet and increasing your physical activity.

As for how long it would take to lose 6kg, it can vary depending on a number of factors, including your current diet, activity level, and metabolism. However, a general guideline for weight loss is that you can safely lose about 1-2 pounds per week. If you follow a healthy diet and increase your physical activity, you can expect to lose about 4-8 pounds in the first month.

It’s important to remember that everyone’s body is different, and weight loss may take more or less time for different people. The most important thing is to focus on making healthy, sustainable lifestyle changes that you can maintain over the long term, rather than relying on quick fixes or extreme methods like water fasting.

Watch Dr.Pradip Jamnadas talk called Fasting for Survival. He explains a lot! I watch it everytime I do an extended fast. My longest fast has been 5 days but I’ve done MANY 3 and 4 day fasts and I’m extremely healthy and have maintained my weightloss for almost 2 years.
