I’ve tried 16:8 with my eating window being from 12:00 to 20:00, but recently I’ve noticed I have more time in the mornings for a meal instead of my afternoons. I’ve heard skipping dinner is an option, but I don’t know if it’ll actually work. Anyone here have any experience doing this with positive results?
Try different windows and see what works best for you. I’m doing 18:6 and tried an 8am-2pm eating window at first but then realized a 2pm-8 or 3pm-9 works best for my schedule and habits. There isn’t a huge difference in effectiveness between windows, there is some but it’s much more important to use a schedule you are happier with and that you can maintain.
I skip dinner with my plan. 20:4 - 23:1 depending on life, and the eating window is usually brunch timing. Workout 50% of the time now, eat clean 50% of the time too. I have 2 young kids so don’t want to sacrifice too much with them like eating out so brunch timing is perfect as we are all together for food whenever possible.
Losing weight consistently for 3 months now, about 14KGs. So I don’t think skipping dinner is a bad thing, but I have read how some people struggle to fall asleep on a fasted empty stomach.
I skip dinner. It works better for my schedule because I work second shifts (4pm-close and 11am-7pm). My eating window is from 8am-4pm, so on the days I don’t work til 4, I just eat all my calories then brush my teeth and go to work. On the days I go in at 11am, I have breakfast before work, then take lunch/snacks with me, but it can still be tough to get all my calories in on time on these days because I get busy. I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning, but I walk \~5 mi while I’m at work. Anyways, I’ve lost 24 pounds since Jan 7, 2023 on this schedule, so it works alright for me.
Edit: I also wanted to mention that I like skipping dinner because it gives my stomach enough time to empty and settle before going to bed.
Skipping dinner is fine as long as you’re still doing things. The reason it’s so beneficial to skip breakfast (iirc) is because a lot of people do a lot of things in the morning which is well into their fast, therefore are able to burn more fat doing so. If you still get plenty of exercise during the later hours of your fast (like exercising before breakfast) I think skipping dinner would be fine. You could, alternatively, use your free time in the morning for prepping dinner. That way you don’t have to spend a bunch of time cooking in the evenings if you don’t have a lot of time.
