I’m on 48 hours of water fasting intending to get to 10 days, but I’m freaking out. I’m literally imagining myself eating lasagne, pizza, roast meat….. tell me it gets better please.
I’m at 37 myself. I just watched a fasting video and it helped my resolve to remind myself of all the amazing processes that are going on inside my body right now! I recommend the talk by Dr.Pradip Jamnadas called Fasting for Survival, or any video with him in it will motivate the hell out of you! Autophagy is really ramped up right now. Your cells are getting a deep cleaning! Human Growth Hormone will be ramping up in just a few more hours. Keep going! Drink some pickle juice or crunch on some sea salt. You need to make sure your electrolytes are topped up. Get outside, weather permitting, and have a walk. It feels amazing at 48 hours. Drink water, then have some more. We’ve got this!
I just finished my very first 72h and between 40-48h was absolute the hardest part. I wasn’t even hungry: I just desperately wanted to taste flavours. So I made green tea and also black coffee, and then occupied myself. I reorganised my apartment, went grocery shopping to a store farther than usual and decided to walk there, worked out, scrubbed the bathroom clean while listening to LOTR audiobooks. I only know how to get myself through these slumps by getting very busy. The last day was easy peasy.
I’m on my seventh day: first and second day sucked, third day really sucked, fourth day sucked, fifth, sixth and seventh have been pretty easy. Even my disgusting mouth isn’t as bad now. I’m literally watching recipe youtubes right now and it’s not a big deal.

As point of reference… my wife hit 48 yesterday a.m. and had just gotten past a fearsome crave crisis. Today she broke her 72hr goal and was debating about perhaps extending. Somewhere between the 24-48hr point is where most of us experience an “I can’t do this” phase. Hang in there.
