Answer

Milk contains sugar and calories. It’s liquid food. If you have a small quantity of food, even liquid, your fast is affected.

Now to what degree and whether it throws the process out of whack is something you have to determine. But probably.

You’re trying to put your digestive system into a resting state on this diet/lifestyle, right? But then now you also want to just use it a little bit, halfway through. It’s a step in the wrong direction and if you can avoid it, it’s overall better.

Answer

Milk is food. If you have a small amount of milk while fasting, whether in tea or anything else, it’s considered “dirty fasting,” because you had a small amount of food. “Dirty fasting” means that you did break your fast, but only a little bit. Typically less than 50 calories — any more than that, and you just straight-up completely broke your fast.

Now, “dirty fasting” can still produce weight loss. I dirty-fasted for the first few months I did IF because I wasn’t yet ready to give up cream in my coffee, and I still lost weight. (I kept the cream to a minimum, and didn’t use sugar.)

But you should be aware that it is dirty fasting.

Answer

If you really can’t have tea without the milk, perhaps try using skimmed milk? It tastes like white water to me though, so not sure if it will work for you. But a small amount of skim milk isn’t as bad, but still technically food.
