Will my metabolism slow down with fasting and calorie deficit?

I’m doing IF 14-16 hours everyday and eating around 1000-1500 kcal daily. I know that fasting doesn’t wreck your metabolism, but calorie deficit does. In my case, since I’m doing both, will it still eventually slow my metabolism down?

Answer

If you are doing a healthy deficit, it should have minimal impact on your metabolism. 500 kcal is considered healthy. If you are female, you should not eat less than 1200kcal, and if you are male, no less than 1500. If your deficit is greater than that, your metabolism will slow down, and eating the same amount of calories will slow down your weight loss, and finally, you can even gain some weight. It’s one of the reasons why you should lose weight gradually. You have a very big calorie window. 1000 to 1500. Why? Like I said, 1200 female and 1500 male minimum. Count your TDEE.
