Working out at the beginning of your fast

Does anybody do this? Not necessarily because you want to but maybe because your schedule gives you no choice. Is this bad? I’m new to IF. My fasting period starts at 8pm and I usually go to the gym at 9pm.

Until you hit like a certain level of competition athletics, doesn’t really matter.

Workout when feels best for you and fits yours schedule. Sometimes I work out in the evening right after my fast starts, sometimes in the morning deep into the fast, other times it’s right before my fast ends, and on the weekends sometimes fed.

As long as we’re nutritionally supporting our fitness during our eating window, our bodies don’t just fall apart of forget to find resources to repair themselves. That’s not to say there isn’t some optimizing that can be done - like maybe have a slow digesting protein as the last thing you eat, but that’s really just the last few percentage points. The bulk of what matters is training well and eating well overall.

I try to work out early in the afternoon, which works best with my schedule. But I don’t eat before 2pm, and often not until 6pm, so I am exercising near the end of my fast. It seems to be a great time for me, as I have a lot of energy and after I cool down and rest for a bit it’s time to eat. Even so, I don’t find that I am very hungry - if anything, it’s the opposite. And that’s weird for me because I used to be ravenous after exercising.
