Working out while fasting

I’m going to start IF again after some time off and want to also incorporate more workouts this time - things like jogging and Pilates. The best time for me to workout is during the last few hours of my fasting window (the morning, around 6am)….typically I don’t break my fast until like 11am.

Is it counterproductive or harmful to my body to workout while fasting? Should I try and adjust my schedule so I can have some protein right after working out without breaking my fast?

My goal is to both lose fat and gain muscle. (I’d like to lose about 20 lbs but I realize if I’m putting on muscle and losing fat I may not achieve this goal).

Edit: for some reason I couldn’t post this without adding the NSFW flair….it’s obviously not needed here. Sorry this post isn’t more exciting! :)

Answer

I generally work out in the afternoons but Sunday morning is my heavy lifting day. I was concerned but it turned out to be no big deal. I actually prefer fasting workouts now. And I’m not seeing any negative side effects, only positive.

Hydrate and you’ll be fine.
