Would Intermittent Fasting be worth it for me?

Little context, i’m (M) 6’8” bounce around 250-260lbs. Not in high school sport shape anymore and don’t have as much time to workout anymore with studying for nursing school, clinicals and working.

I’d like to stay in a decent weight range, been noticing my jeans have been getting tight around the waist and like “oh shit” probably should do something before the weight goes any higher.

I’ve thought about doing an IF, my ER doc friend has been doing a 48hr then eat 24 hr then stop 48hr and he says its been great. But i’m not sure how it would work for me.

Somedays I don’t eat and somedays I eat a lot but it seems I’m getting a bit heavier lmao.

Any opinions? Just seeing what y’all have to say! Thanks :)

Answer

Well diet is what you eat, fasting is when you eat. You seem to have a diet problem.

Not to say that fasting is not a very effective way to drop weight. For me fasting not only helped me do that but more importantly it helped me have a better relationship with food. Before I just could not be hungry; if I was everything would stop until I got to eat. On top of that I would snack a lot. When I started fasting I was able to see my eating habits for what they were; conditioned habits that I could take control over.

I’m still fasting to lose weight but more importantly I get to enjoy food without letting it just be an impulse thing.

IF is worth it for anyone, it’s the way all humans should be eating honestly. I recommend doing some research, because weight management is just one of many benefits of IF and fasting in general. It’s easy once you get a bit used to it.
