If you’ve worked in retail (specifically with perishable goods), you likely know the acronym FIFO (first in first out). This is the right way to stock shelves, and specifically to restock. Once the front items have gone. Pull the back items forward and fill new product in behind.
Your body SUCKS at stocking shelves! Your body uses FIRIF (first in restock in front). New energy? Right to the front for consumption, keep the old energy (fat) right where it is on the back of the shelf.
The best way to get those back items gone is to not restock infront of them. Especially because unlike consumers, your body WILL take the back most product with little to no resistance, it doesn’t need that perfect shelf facing/visibility to “want” to use the product. So give your stock- person a break and burn some fat.
To the best of my knowledge, this is an original thought/metaphor. It is obviously simplistic and imperfect, but I thought it neat and worth sharing.
Yes it’s last in first out for fat. but that’s a good thing. The first thing the body feeds off of when it needs fat energy is the fat in the liver, then the visceral fat around the organs. The body has it figured out, it’s just that people haven’t figured out the body and that includes most doctors.
