Hey guys, I’ve got a question here, I’ve been fasting (Omad) since last November, I’m in my mid 20s, 160lbs 5’9. I’m on keto as well right now. I want to do 14 day water fast, but I have a relatively low body fat(around 18%) should I gain weight before I fast or it should be fine? Has anyone done extended fasting with low body weight?

Answer

First day of an extended fast.

It’s been a busy and stressful couple of years since my last fast and this seems like a good time to get back in tune with what my body needs.

So far so good, I’ve been winding down carbs over the last few days so hoping to avoid anything too dramatic today. For some reason my sleep has already shortened but I don’t feel particularly tired - just hoping to align my productive hours with work.

I am fighting for my life lmao.

Day 1 - The first day was plagued with an intense craving for anything with sugar, namely pop tarts and cinnamon rolls. No real hunger tho. No bowel movement.

Day 2 - Second day was the same, but my cravings were peanut butter, Chinese soup dumplings and rotisserie chicken. It didn’t help that my BF brought one of those bad boys home, and when I felt like I was going to succumb to my cravings, I went for a 2hr walk with my dog. Success! No bowel movement.

Day 3 - It’s purely a mental challenge for me more than anything. I had some lightheadedness last night but otherwise I feel perfectly fine. So far, the cinnamon roll craving is back… but no hunger to report. Down 4 pounds of water weight. Can’t wait for that sweet ketosis to kick in.
