"zero" drinks on a fast

I’m wandering if drinks like “zero calories” energy drinks, sodas, etc are gonna break my fast or not. Any suggestions, anyone?

A little late to this thread, but yes! On my last 7 day fast I drank a lot of Zevia’s (100% stevia sweetened sodas). I felt like I got all the same benefits as my other “water only” fasts, except it was less miserable. The carbon bubbles make you feel full for a little while… I also drank a lot of green tea (appetite suppressant).

Anyway, Stevia (and monk fruit) have been shown to be 100% 0 glycemic, 0 cal, 0 impact to blood sugar. If they somehow affect autophagy or any other fasting mechanism, I can’t possibly see what it would be.

Protip: by the flavored carbonated (but not sweetened!) cans of seltzer water. Then add stevia drops to taste. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than buying Zevia’s or some other 0 cal soda.

Answer

they don’t contain any calories but they affect insulin for upwards sometimes more than basic sugar with some chemicals inside( can’t give sources now). if you are fasting, stick only to water and mineral water.
