Thryve Probiotics
I’ve been taking this probiotic for the past six months. Recently, the company changed its name. Does anyone know why they renamed themselves to Ombrelab? It all seems rather shady, and there’s no explanation for the rebranding.
From the FAQ section on the site:
Are there new products coming up at Ombre?
Yes - our new probiotic formulations will provide our customers access to the latest in probiotic strain research to support their wellness goals.
Our new proprietary probiotic formulations contain clinically supported strains proven to target specific symptoms as well as general wellness. In modulating the gut biome with researched backed strains, our probiotic design targets microbial imbalances while encouraging the growth of beneficial bacteria that contribute to overall wellness.
Why are you changing the name?
Our new name and identity, Ombre, better reflects the company we are building - one that reflects the science of the quantified self. As consumers evolve and embrace personalized data supported by science based wellness products, our brand has grown.
What else is changing at Ombre?
We are not just changing our name; we are also improving our products and services, including our home tests, gut health reports, and in-app experience. While our name and brand identity will change, we will continue with the same DNA analysis process of consumer home testing kits.
The startup is called Quantbiome and I think they were running out of funding under the Thryve brand.
Rebranding is the quickest way to steer of any trademark issues if ownership wasn’t clearly defined. VCs have founders swap out ownership into a shell company that has al the legal liabilities ironed out before investing in a new round of funding.
