Tips on delaying

Hi! I’m new to this sub, please be kind.

I used to practice IF years ago where I would eat from 2-10pm. It worked great for me and my lifestyle at the time.

I have since had kids, nursed both kids, changed jobs/hours, etc. I would love to start IF again but after taking so long off I am finding it so hard to delay eating!!

I have become accustomed to eating right when I wake up. Ideally I’d like to skip breakfast each day and begin my window at lunchtime.

Any tips on convincing oneself in the morning to delay eating? I need some motivation in those moments. Thank you!

The first week is the hardest. Drink lots of water to keep your tummy full.

I think the easiest way to do it is to move back your breakfast an hour each day until you eliminate it completely and go straight to lunch.

That’s my favorite way. I eat dinner, then I’m fasting while I sleep. If I’m doing 18/6 I just have to skip breakfast.

I would suggest making hot teas of different flavors. If I get hungry, I often do that and the ritual of preparing some hot tea, then drinking it seems satisfying, and the hunger will go away.

And that’s the other thing - you might feel hungry for a while, but if you get busy, stop thinking about eating, the cravings will subside after a bit. It’s how I do OMAD - one meal a day.
