I recently restarted intermittent fasting 18/6 for weight loss and for my health, but mostly for weight loss.
I have Dr. Fung’s The Complete Guide to Fasting. It says that you can add certain types of fat up to a tablespoon to your fasting fluids.
I’ve been adding a teaspoon of ghee to my coffee in the morning to help keep me satiated until my eating window. It’s just one teaspoon in one cup of coffee every morning. I drink unsweetened black tea and water the rest of the day. Is that teaspoon of ghee breaking my fast and stifling my progress? I’ve tried drinking my coffee without it but the hunger pangs are intense.
One teaspoon of 4th & Heart Ghee is 40 calories, 4.3g fat, 0 carbs, 13mg cholesterol.
If you’re having a hard time, start with 16/8. If you’re already finding “exceptions” you’re defeating the purpose of a sustainable eating habit.
Additionally, I’m a big proponent of dropping as much saturated fat as possible. That, and sugar and salt.
