Communion

Does anyone think the small little amount of grape juice for taking communion and a tiny cracker breaks your fast?

If so, then my Sundays will just have to be my cheat days.

Answer

Look, technically it does… but it’s super small. If communion helps you feel grounded and it’s a ritual, go ahead. This is one sip of juice and a cracker.

Don’t go and drink a whole glass of juice and a carton of crackers. But this is so small, you can afford it. It doesn’t truly break a fast, and if this helps you—go ahead. IF doesn’t have to be an insane thing and super rigid. You’re sticking to the game plan, so this isn’t a real issue.

Answer

I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty sure Dr.Fung says in a video somewhere that a single small consumption of under 50 calories won’t knock you out of a fasted state, I’m sure there are caveats and people can correct me.

Answer

It does, but it doesn’t have to ruin your routine. Just take it and move on. I wouldn’t think of it as a cheat day at all. Just something you do on Sundays. You might get hungry sooner but it doesn’t mean you have to eat all day.
