Creatine on fast?

Is Creatine HCL safe on extended fasts? I plan to take a 10 day fast and I’m worried about major muscle loss, so I figure creatine can help preserve some.

Creatine will help your muscles retain water. I wouldn’t do it. it won’t do what you want it to do. It may give the appearance of preserving muscle but it won’t make a real difference.

You’re not going to lose that much from 10 days. Just follow any post-detraining program.

Personally I would recommend continuing lifting what you have the energy. Don’t push PRs or anything, and if I were going that long I’d just go as hard as I could maintain 5-8 clean reps.

But the benefits from 10 days of autophagy and growth hormone from fasting will outweigh any imaginary benefit from creatine.
