Fasting with reactive hypoglycemia?

Title. I have reactive hypoglycemia (blood sugar crashes within a few hours of eating). However I’d like to fast, but I’m not sure if blood sugar when not eating is an issue, or if anyone here has a similar situation.

Answer

Of course consult with your doctor before doing this:

You might try getting a continuous glucose monitor. By continuously monitoring your blood glucose you might be able to determine which foods are most likely to cause a reactive event. If you can get through the first 5-ish hours after a meal, you might be in the clear. Non-diabetic reactive hypoglycemia isn’t super well studied, but from first principles, I’d guess that fasting should improve your hypoglycemia over time.

Answer

I have this, pretty bad too. I have to just eat keto otherwise I am shaking, dizzy, get tunnel vision pretty quickly etc. It’s really miserable.

After a few days of keto ( the first two days can be pretty tough, so I suggest doing it on a Friday - Sunday if you do try. Or reduce carbs gradually. whichever works for you) I don’t have any of the symptoms whatsoever.
