Answer

The actual research is just not there to say that sugar substitutes are inherently bad. The animal studies they’ve done that says sucralose and other sugar substitutes cause cancer and gut problems are done in a way where they give the animal toxic dosages of it and then make the statement, meanwhile humans would never ingest those amounts. I’m not a big Layne Norton fan but he has a video perfectly going over it. I’m personally not a big fan of putting anything chemically made in my body when there’s more natural sugar alternatives like Monk Fruit sweetener, Stevia, and Coconut sugar that all don’t spike insulin. Hell, even dates are an amazing natural sweetener that you can blend up for shakes or bake with and it adds a sugar taste without the crazy calories or insulin spike.

Health wise they are better but they messed my stomach up so bad I thought I was pregnant. I kept feeling kicking up in there and the minute I stopped eating the health bars w the sugar alcohols all was back to normal

Answer

Compared to sugar: way better for you. Or, way less bad for you anyway.

Compared to anything else: I hope you like peeing out your butt.

Daily consumption hasn’t been shown to have any real negative effects except discomfort, bloating, etc. Your gut will adjust to it over time and you can consume more of it without problems.
