Weightlifting when fasting - tips and experiences

Starting 18:6 today and interested in hearing peoples tips and experiences with weight training (heavy weights) whilst fasting.

I struggle with this. I generally lift and cardio (20 minutes of stairmill) a a few hours before I’m supposed to start eating. My lifts can fall way off (like down 20% sometimes), and when I get home after I am ravenous. Like I have to eat something and don’t stop once I start. I have found if I do a treadmill early in the morning, then lift later like noon, it isn’t as bad. And if I am lifting 20 percent less then am I really benefiting from the lifting? So now I keep a clif bar and a protein bar in my gym bag, and if I absolutely suck at gymming than I eat half a clif bar between sets, and maybe the whole thing. Then when I get back to the car if I’m starving I eat the protein bar. Then I don’t go home right away. Go back to the office for a couple of hours or something, to have some distractions besides the kitchen. It isn’t perfect but it is planned instead of eating anything I can find in the refrigerator.
