Autophagy: what do you do once you get there?

I know Autophagy is meant to be good for you, weight loss, detoxing, anti-aging, anti-cancer, et. What I don’t know is what you’re meant to do once you hit Autophagy. How long do you need to be in Autophagy for it to really be effective, is it the best time to exercise?

Hi, there! Your body goes into high gear doing spring cleaning (autophagy) at around hour 48 of a clean fast. Once in this amazing stage, just let your body do its thing. I personally wouldn’t engage in strenuous exercise on a prolonged fast, as you might find that you’re quite a bit weaker. But I will engage in daily walking, yoga, and other not-so-strenuous exercises. This is what works for me. You’ll find your stride and what works for you. But, regardless, if heightened autophagy is your aim, all you need to do is water fast. Best of luck to you!

Autophagy isn’t on or off. It’s always happening. It just happens at a higher rate when we haven’t eaten in a while. There’s not much to do besides not eat. Go learn a new hobby with all the extra time you have, maybe? :)
