Answer

Anyone trying fasting with any medical issues should take it easy to start with and track what you eat, how you feel and when, at least until you get a good handle on it.

Try a 10/14 day for a week or two and get used to not eating at a certain time. Then tighten up your window (to whatever your goal timeframe is) on those days you feel like you can push it a couple of hours and don’t sweat it when you track that minute hand like a junkie. We ALL do it. =P

Every couple of weeks or so, trim an hour off the eating window.

Eventually you’ll know exactly how your body reacts, when it’s telling you Danger Will Robinson! versus just muttering under its breath at you, when it’s ok to break a fast early and when you can P U S H.

However u/mattdc79 has the right idea as well and I agree with trying an elimination diet first. Having gone through a long term elimination diet, I cannot stress enough the difference it made in my overall life even if the diet itself sucked. I would do it all over again if I had to. I was missing an average of 3 days of work a week and now I might miss a day every month or two. I hurt every day and since it was caused by food I was slowly developing an aversion to eating Anything since food= pain.

Once you know what your problem foods are, then add IF but starting IF while still eating (unknown) problematic foods isn’t going to do you any favors.
