Clarification about fasting hours

This may be a silly question but I’ve been doing IF for just over a month. I’ve been doing a 16hr fast with an 8hr eating window. Typically my eating window has been between noon and 8pm but yesterday I didn’t eat anything past 630pm so does that mean I could’ve broken my fast 1.5 hrs earlier today? Or does it make sense to just stick with the 12-8 window no matter what?

Answer

You could have broken your fast earlier. No sense in starting your fast at 8 if you haven’t eaten since 6:30.

If your goal was to build up to 20:4 then I’d say it makes sense to say you started your fast later than you actually did.

Answer

It’s a personal choice.

For me, if I unintentionally fast for longer, I figure that’s a good thing so, if I end my eating window early, I don’t eat earlier the next day. Same if I end up eating lunch at 1 or 2, I don’t extend my eating window past 6 (I normally eat between noon and 6PM).
