For those that have cut sugar while fasting how has that changed your results? Probably going to answer some of my question myself but when I first discovered fasting I had already cut sugar and the weight literally fell off of me. I ate like garbage, fasted 18+ hours a day and lost 36 pounds in three months. I never tested for it but I feel like I hit ketosis a lot as well based on the description of how it feels. Pandemic destroyed my weight loss and this time around I’m still eating sugar but the gains seem very slow and difficult. I know the answer seems obvious but I’m hoping it can be done without losing sugar. I struggle without my massive French vanilla coffee.
When I cut out sugar I went all in, down to black coffee. It changed my tastes after a while so I still rarely crave sweets anymore.
Buuuut I had my best weight loss success after I had already gone back to cream and sugar in my coffee and a chocolate after dinner sometimes, but I was sticking to a schedule and avoiding unhealthy foods.
That’s what’s going to impact the most. Like definitely avoid cake and candy but a spoonful of sugar in your coffee isn’t making the difference lol.
I cut sugar and made a lot of changes when I started IF. It’s my first IF try, and I’m hoping it will be successful, and I wouldn’t have to start again. Any previous attempts of cutting, limit, or switching sugar to different sweeteners were not successful. Now, I finally feel free of sugar. I suspect that if I start using it again, it will all come back. The cravings, the hunger, and lost weight plus a few kilograms as a bonus. I enjoy my cottage cheese with a banana and cinnamon, protein shake on milk with cocoa, and yoghurt with fruits. As deserts go, it’s poor, but for me nowadays it’s good. I hope it stays that way.
I lost about 20 lbs doing IF alone with no diet changes and hit a plateau for a few months. Then cut out all added sugar on weekdays and dropped another 25 to my goal weight.
I still indulge on the weekends but don’t go crazy.
