So, I know a lot of people drink black coffee during fasts, me included. Heard that black coffee has approx~ 3 calories/cup. Which is negligible for sure, just wondering if it’s so negligible that it doesn’t matter in the case of breaking a fast or not. Thanks
Some fasting plans say that anything less than 50 calories is ok. Because of this, I keep miso paste on hand for “emergencies”. If I am REALLY struggling I will make a cup of miso soup (just with hot water and no other ingredients). It’s hot, salty, and filling.
Please don’t come at me. This may not be for everyone but it works for me because if it stops me from eating solid food, it’s worth it.
I’ve just started drinking my coffee black. first few days it was so sour as I was used to coffeemate creamer. Now, I’ve come to like it alot and I know the sugar in the creamer was impeding my weight loss. Black coffee and water is all I drink during fasts.
You will burn significantly more than 3 calories simply making coffee. People are so obsessed with accidentally “breaking their fast” that they’ve lost sight of what they’re even trying to accomplish.
Best to just have mineralized water.
Sure the calories are very low in coffee but to me the caffeine can be disruptive. I do 8 day fasts and try to do just water but about once every other day I’ll have a cup of coffee and try to spread the cup over an hour or so to slowly intake the caffeine.
