I was fasting until the Christmas period happened, and in the mornings I’d always have a black coffee because I’d break my fast at around 5/6pm.
I’m starting fasting again today and I realised I haven’t drank coffee in a month. I know coffee isn’t the worst thing in the world but I may as well try and stay off it.
In the mornings my mouth feels gross if I just drink water and brush my teeth, so I’m looking for any zero calorie recommendations to have first thing when I wake up?
Fizzy drinks are a no no, the only thing I can think of so far is decaff coffee, which I’ll try but I think that may just taste gross without the caffeine lol.
Anyone got any other recommendations? Thanks.
Tea is your only and best option, besides regular water or water with splash of lemon/ cucumber.
Anything else will break your fast. Even the zero sugar versions of drinks are controversial, because recent studies show that they can spike your insulin the same way sugar does.
If you want a tea that is 0 calories and tastes a bit different with no caffeine, could try roobios tea? Not sure if I spelled right.
Its nice, I drink it at night but no reason couldn’t drink during the morning.
Otherwise tea and decaf I believe have the same amount of caffeine.
I already drank a lot of herb teas when I was a coffee adict but I have weaned myself off and now drink chicory. It’s a lot better than I thought it would be - the horrible barleycup concoctions had really put me off trying. I have roasted and ground for black coffee and using in the machines and prewetts instant with oat milk for a quick cuppa. The bonus is the inulin which is a prebiotic and appetite suppressor. I think the grounds are the same calories as ground coffee but I’m not 100%
Cocolmeca herb. They look like hunks of copper colored wood chips. Add to pot with water, bring to boil. Let stand. Add agave if you like. Energy for hours. And good for cleaning cleaning the blood. Google it.
