Fasting/ OMAD/ Insulin resistance

Hello, Ladies and gentlemen, Came up here for some suggestion and advice. i have been doing OMAD ( one meal a day) from past 3-4 weeks With carbs included so its not keto or low carbs, Sometimes I’ll even have a milk tea with sugar, basically what i have noticed is that the size of my arms started reducing at a rapid phase but the fat from my stomach and chest which is where it’s stored primaly is not reducing like the way its getting reduced from my arms, is this the sign for insulin resistance, Just to give you guys a note there’s a history of diabetes in my family. I’m seeking advice/suggestions from experienced people who have dealt with fasting and insulin resistance if that’s my case.

Thank you.

Answer

Not a doctor but insulin makes sugar get stored as fat in the viscera. Which is between and around organs. Not the same type of fat you get from plain old eating too much, which is subcutaneous fat. Could be a sign that you have some amount of insulin resistance, but you would be best to go to a doctor and get it check out if you’re concerned. Also, a constant glucose monitor could tell you more about how your body reacts to what and when you eat.

Generally speaking, eating only once per day would be healthier. So if you went from 2-3 carby meals per day to just a single meal then it wouldn’t make sense you are building up insulin resistance. Some questions that need answering though:

A simple explanation could just be that the the stored fat is being used somewhat chronologically. So maybe your arms are more active and hence the fat is being used up there first. Then later it’ll come from the chest and belly.
