Why should you avoid insulin responses while fasting

I know fasting for an extended period is avoiding eating food or drinking things that cause an insulin response, but why? I don’t understand how that correlates to the weight loss. (Sorry if this is a dumb question I just felt it was best to ask this forum)

Answer

In a fasted state your body will prioritize the burning of fat for energy. Studies show this typically starts after 12 hours of fasting. If the body has glucose to burn for energy the benefits of fast will end because the insulin response will result in your body no longer prioritizing the fat for fuel.
