How do I tell my family members I am trying to do a 7 day fast?

I’ve done the research, listened to podcasts etc. longest fast I’ve done so far has been 70 hours. I could’ve kept going too.

I want to tell my family since I live with them and don’t want them buying me food or enticing me to break my fast, but I don’t think they will be onboard because people think you are starving yourself.

How can I explain it to them without them reacting negatively?

Answer

In my experience, if you can get past day 2 of fasting, you can pretty much fast for as long as you want ( assuming you keep up on your vitamins ), with the only thing stopping you being cravings and your family members who decide to make a bunch of good shit to bring over. My best suggestion is to not tell them, and just make an excuse you’ve already ate or something.

Maybe say “I am telling you because I’m looking for support. I love that you care about me enough to not want me to do something that you think will be harmful. I’m asking you to trust me that I’ve done research and consulted with medical professionals, and I will not be doing harm to myself in this fast. If you could support me, it would REALLY go a long way”

Answer

I’d try to fast as long as you think you can without them noticing and then tell them. When I was able to say “Actually, I haven’t eaten in two days and I feel really good” there were fewer objections.
