I know about the power of electrolytes and just how important they are. My question is are there any other nutrients I need to be supplementing too? I have found that I can’t make it past 24-36 hours if I don’t take Zinc and magnesium regularly. Anything else that may help? My goal is to make it to a 72-96 hr fast. I was able to do rolling 72s when I added Zinc and Mg a few months ago.
Every person is different, and has a different metabolism.
But entertain the possibility that it’s in your head. Your ancestors certainly went several days without food and without electrolytes. You need water, almost every day and in quantities. Beyond that, entertain the possibility that fasting is uncomfortable but in no way something that needs a medical/supplement intervention.
Think of it like the people who are like “OMG! How can you skip breakfast! How can you not eat for a whole day!!! Aren’t you worried you’ll die?” And you’re like, “no, I’ve done this plenty of times and I’m totally fine. We don’t need snacks all the time.”
