Wondering if anyone could tell me if chewing nicotine gum (several pieces) in the morning will break my fast? My eating window is 2pm - 10pm. The gum is Kirkland brand ice mint 2 mg.
What’s more important- someone else’s technical definition of “breaking a fast’ or doing what works for you? Overall those alcohol sugars and sucralose have less of an insulin response than sugar, and you are talking about a VERY small amount in some gum. And you NEED the gum to avoid smoking. Unless the nicotine patches work for you and you wanna switch to those, I wouldn’t worry about a few pieces of medicated gum. You will definitely still lose weight and get tons of health benefits. IF is not an all or nothing game. Nor even close.
I lost -80LBS using intermittent fasting and during my fasting periods I use nicotine lozenges. There is an argument that I was never fasting since each lozenge has something like 0.5 calories but there was just no way I was going to go back to smoking just so I could say I was clean fasting.
I guess I should have mentioned that I am not trying to quit smoking. I already quit. Over ten years ago 😬I’m just mad addicted to the delicious gum. However, I was planning to get on the patch to get off the gum and ween for good. I just have a jumbo box of gum I need to finish.
