The vegetable oil is the unhealthy part, I cook mine in coconut oil. Also, make sure it’s non-GMO corn. If it’s organic, it usually is. Trader Joe’s has a delicious popcorn that is popped in olive oil.
Coconut oil and olive oil are your best bets. They are less inflammatory and overall have more health benefits. Lesserevil is a great brand, and Target also has a good & gather olive oil popcorn that’s good!
Popcorn is high in fiber and low in calories when air popped. Air Popping 1/4c fresh kernels yields 7 cups of popped corn. Lightly toss to season with 1 tbsp butter and dash of salt. This brings 300cal, 10g fat, 8g fiber(25%dv) 150 + sodium (depends on your dash) and even 7 g plant protein. Skip the fat and salt, toss with your favorite herb blend or savor it plain!
