Has anyone else noticed reduced (skin) inflammation since starting IF? A couple years ago in my mid-30s I developed a crazy skin irritation. Whenever I ate certain foods or drank wine I would break out in an itchy rash all over my torso. I’d never experienced this before and I went to the dermatologist a bunch and he was unhelpful. He said maybe it was eczema or maybe it was chronic hives, but he didn’t know the cause and the allergist didn’t recommend me attempting to isolate specific foods. So I self-diagnosed and determined it was a histamine intolerance. I take supplements that allegedly help the body process excess histamine but if I eat or drink too much of the wrong things I get hives. They go away after a couple days.
However, I ate a lot of weird stuff during the holidays while fasting for 16:8 most days. I noticed I barely broke out with hives despite this being the type of thing that would usually trigger it. My theory is that my body has more time to process the excess histamine because I’m not eating as frequently. Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m all for non-scale victories and this seems like a big one.
I have started to get eczema and generally itchy skin during fall and winter. I am hoping that IF will help me improve my quality of life in my skin. So I wish I was chiming in to yes-all is good. But, I am chiming in to say, that like you I hope that will IF will improve my very dry, itchy skin.
I hace similar issues. I went to a doctor, allergist, and dietitian. The Dietitian was the one who brought up a histamine allergy to me. I’ve been avoiding those foods and have noticed difference. I’m curious about the supplements you are on. They have me taking digestive enzymes and this leaky gut stuff.
