I’m PMSing like crazy right now and was wondering if it would be a bad idea to start fasting. I usually do 16:8, but sometimes my PMS cravings are so out of control that I end up giving up and stopping my Fastic timer. I’m going to try again today though. Is there any sort of negative consequence to fasting during this time? Like will I fck up my hormones? Thanks in advance.
I have heard fasting the week before you menstruate can be problematic for progesterone production, irritability and cravings come with progesterone ramping up. But days 1-21 should be ok, as always listen to your body!
I’ve only been doing IF for 2 months now but when I was having my cravings I just had to find healthier ways to get my fill in during my 8 hrs. There were a couple days I just gave in though. I personally haven’t noticed anything bad though from still fasting while on my period.
I went from 18:6 to 17:7 just to sneak an extra chocolate snack or to curb the hunger pangs. If I completely stop fasting for my periods I won’t start back up again. I just tweak it ever so slightly it doesn’t make a difference
I stick with my schedule most of the time, but if one late night I’m moody and want chocolate icecream I’ll do it. But I have good self control the rest of the time and so I dont worry about little slip ups. Consistency overall is what’s key, and if occasionally I eat outside my eating window it’s whatever to me.
I also sometimes will have an alcoholic beverage (or two) outside my eating window.
Sometimes life just calls for late night eating imo
