7 day fast sucked

I’m almost done with my first 7 day fast and I’m feeling like crap. All of my shorter fasts were awesome. Had anyone else tried longer fasts and decided it wasn’t worth it? I’m sure I didn’t take enough salt. I don’t really like salt so I could only handle a tiny pinch at a time a few times a day. I guess I’ll go back to IF until I need a longer fast to break a plateau. Advice and insight would be happily accepted!

Answer

Longer fasts are definitely going to require more supplementation. I usually sprinkle a tiny amount of salt in all of my water, a small enough amount that I can’t taste it. You can try putting in larger amounts and flavouring it with something that’s zero calories like Mio if you partake in artificial sweeteners.

The other thing to keep in mind is that it takes time for your body (especially women) to get used to longer fasts and becoming efficient at running off body fat stores. Going from IF straight to an extended fast might have been more than your body could handle. I’d suggest working up to another 7 day fast slowly to give yourself time to adapt.

I suggest trying out this recipe to help with the crappy feeling and to hydrate and supply your body with the nutrients it’s needing the most! Apple cider vinegar, baking soda, salt, water and lemon juice to make it all taste better. https://youtu.be/E-uKeFbzpCs

My day 5 sucked. I figured it was because the toddler decided to nurse more and it zapped me, I have no idea. I don’t think I’ll go past 5 days because a M-F fast just fits my life better.

How did you feel on the other days?
