Big mistake. Teaching moment.

I finished up my first week of IF (14:10) and had great success. I feel better already, less bloated and stiff for sure! But today I made the mistake of having a cookie. I meant to have just one, really I did. And now I feel like crap. Nauseaous and just gross. Ah well, tomorrow’s another day, right?

You’re just starting out and are learning and adjusting. You’ll need to learn to forgive and love yourself, or you won’t find any joy in this process or find joy in your successes (and you’ve already had some success! Way to go!).

Shaming yourself does not equal better performance, which is counter to what many of us are and were told. So challenge yourself to do two things 1. Aim to improve and 2. Love yourself no matter what failings or successes you make.

It’s ok buddy, you take it one step at a time. You set yourself a time frame when you’re allowed to eat. Your first goal is to stick to that. When you’re comfortable with WHEN you eat, you double up and start focusing on WHAT you eat. This is not a race nor is it a competition. This is you going your way at your pace, overcoming your individual struggles in your very own way.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. Certainly wasn’t ideal, but now that it happened, you can only look ahead and - as you already said - take it as a lesson.

Only one cookie? Last time a craving got me I ordered and ate a full sized cheeseburger meal with fries and non-diet coke. Wouldn’t be problem counting it as a meal but I ate this as a post-meal snack.

Cravings will get to us every once in a while. Just try your best to take them into account for your daily macros.
