Breaking a fast with beer/booze. Not as bad as it sounds?

I completely understand this is a bad idea. I’m not suggesting it’s a good idea.

I find the biggest thing that gets in my way while trying to fast is social engagements and the need to network in my career.

A few times I have been mid-fast and get invited for beers short notice, and while I could decline, it wouldn’t be the right move for my business or my career.

Here is the crazy thing, I actually find I am less affected by alcohol than I am normally, and when I have too much, experience less of a hangover.

It’s completely counter intuitive because drinking on an empty stomach is a known party foul, and well documented cause of bad nights.

My theory is that my body is so straved for fuel it just breaks down the alcohol as a food source. I know this sounds silly. Does anyone else have any similar experiences?

Answer

I mean, I relate to the situation at least. I don’t have enough data points to say the differences in how I feel the next day or how much I feel affected by the alcohol. I could see a situation where there is technically less competition for your liver and it gets processed through more efficiently for some ppl, but that is a possible hypothesis and I have no data or research to back me up lmao
