I have never fasted but recently quit drinking and want to make other healthy choices.
I run every morning and want to incorporate IF. What eating schedule would make the most sense to get my morning runs in and fast for 16 hours? Thanks in advance.
Try out the 8-4 eating window for a little while and see how it goes! Many people here work out while fasting and love it. But it depends on your individual body — the best thing to do is just give it a try and adjust based on how you feel.
Try working out fasted. If it works for you, great. If it doesn’t, try working out during your eating window. It’s different for everyone.
I have reservations about adjusting the eating schedule on different days. Fasting helps your circadian clocks with their routine, so it seems logical that changing up the timing during the week will mess with that. I would either change the workout time or permanently adjust the eating schedule to accommodate all exercise.
I eat between 5pm and midnight. When I first started I was worried about hiking and cycling in the afternoons. I haven’t had any issues. In fact, it’s nice to not be thinking about food during the last few fasting hours. If I were going for some record personal record I would just make sure I ate accordingly the evening before.
When I was eating throughout the day, but counting calories for a daily deficit every single day and only eating back half of my exercise calories, I had more issues getting lightheaded.
you know I disagree with the word fasting in intermittent fasting. Everybody fasts without realizing it. In the morning you break fast equals breakfast!
so when u say 8 am to 4pm that means you are fasting from 4 pm when you finish eating till 8 am when you start eating. that’s 16 hours of fasting.
i imagine u don’t eat at 5am. so u should be good. because even before if u ate at 10pm u wld still be running on an empty stomach.
what u might experience at 5am are hunger pangs. i hope u can ride them till 8 am. but eat if u get nauseous or dizzy.
as others have pointed out Everybody is different. You’ve got to discover ur body’s eccentricities.
