Chest pains during my water fast

Hi I was just looking for some general advice regarding this issue I recently experienced. I’ve been water fasting regular for over a year. I usually fast upto 3 days once a month. I do also add electrolytes to my water.

My most recent fast I was planning on going for 72 hours and it was going well. But at about 55 I started to get chest pains in my heart area. This woke me up as it was 4am. I got up and decided to have something to eat and break the fast. The chest pains went away after I’d eaten and I went back to sleep.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this? Should I stay away from fasting?

Thanks

Answer

Definitely definitely go to a doctor and explain what’s going on just to be on the safe side.

If it makes you feel any better it probably isn’t a heart issue. Some people get gassy when your gut bacteria is starved of food and you might just be experiencing gas pains in your chest. Don’t take that as the truth though, still get checked out.
