Is there a study on the correlation between new scientific findings on (healthy) nutrition and when the food industry adopts them? Can you tell if the food industry does this voluntarily without pressure from legislative changes? #healthyfood #nutrients #science
“The food industry” is a very broad term, but they all typically play the same game; hire their own scientists to conduct biased research in favor of the current practices. And that’s before the aggressive government lobbying and deploying legal teams to find the smallest loopholes they can fit through to avoid changing. Change for the better doesn’t really happen without legislative pressure, and even then, they’ll search tirelessly for ways to avoid it.
A lot of companies run on addiction. Making their food healthier would mean going against decades of enticing advertising and blasting their products with sugar, salt, and fat, which would do nothing for them but make them lose money. No profit, no change.
I desperately hope there’s someone out there who can tell me this isn’t the case, though.
