Disney

So I’m starting week 4 of IF. Been doing really good 16:8. We’re taking the kids (teens) to Disneyland Jan 1-5. I don’t want to stress on eating/food while on the trip. Do you think all the walking (which is ALOT! Lol) will make up for not strict IF?

Look,

It’s vacation and only for 4 days, I would just be mindful of calorie intake (don’t ONLY eat those delicious churros!) and enjoy the trip. Your CICO can be kept in relative check with the walking and attempt to stay somewhat close to your IF times, but other than that, have fun!

Answer

I would suggest having a clear plan of what you intend to eat, and when.

I’m going to get breakfast at the hotel.

I’m going to get lunch at the space mountain cafe (or wherever).

I’m going to get a snack at 3/4pm when we look at main street.

I’m going to get dinner at 6/7pm at (wherever).

This way you’re not sucked into grazing on the infinite snack food.

At the end of the day, just make sure you enjoy Disney with your kids. In twenty years are you going to remember the memories with your kids or that you were ultra strict with IF?

Also it’s not like there’s a waffle cake vendor in your local grocery store so I find it relatively easy to slip back into IF

Answer

Everybody is different, but my daughter and I went to Orlando this summer. Spent 3 days at Disney, and 2 days at Universal, and I ate whatever I wanted because I’m on vacation and want to enjoy myself. Averaged about 11 miles worth of walking a day, came home got on the scale and lost 7 pounds.

Answer

Skip breakfast for yourself and morning calories if possible. It’s probably the easiest meal to skip when with others. You can just say ‘I’m not that hungry’ and still sit together/enjoy your coffee.

The other two meals - I wouldn’t stress too much. You’ll gain some weight, but it shouldn’t be unmanageable. Also, try to avoid eating snacks between meals unless you need to regulate blood sugar levels. Eating snacks with others will probably still happen sometimes, but may be able to be avoided every time.

I have been doing IF since February and went to Disneyland in October. Did not do IF while there for 3 days and ended up losing 3lbs. I think the walking and not waiting to spend hundreds on food helped a ton. Just enjoy the trip
