Drowsiness post eating

I’ve been doing IF (18:6) for close to two months now and a pattern I’ve noticed is as soon as I break my fast and have a meal, I’m extremely sleepy in the next half hour. Is this a common thing? I break my fast at lunch so I stil legit half a day’s work to do. So is there something I can do to change this? Is this just a me problem? Or does anyone have similar issues? Any help appreciated.

Answer

Eating a large amount at once, especially after fasting. will spike your blood sugar if there are carbs in there. That will cause tiredness. You can break your fast more gradually with smaller portions spread throughout your eating window.

Also, you may have a food intolerance. Sleepiness after eating can be a sign of that.

Answer

OP make sure your meal is not carb heavy. I had the same issue when I was breaking my fast with a meal that included rice or potatoes. Now I break my fast with a protein shake or salad and I’m not sleepy anymore.

Answer

I sometimes get super sleepy right after eating. Even if it’s just scrambled eggs or something. And it makes me wonder if it’s linked to blood sugar issues. I’m curious to see what others may have to say.
