Ending at day 21 of a 30 days fast

Background I’ve been doing keto for a few months before I started the extended fast. I am no stranger to fasting as I do it for various reasons and on most days I can easily do OMAD without feeling weak or hungry. In Feb I decided to go for extended fasting after doing meticulous research/ reading online studies/ lurking on this sub. Day 3-5 were pretty rough but it was smooth sailing after that. I was measuring my electrolytes (sodium, pottasium, magnesium and the occassional biotin) very carefully therefore had no adverse reactions or after effects. I was also walking min 10k steps daily. Day 17 is when things started going downhill with acid reflux. I had it during Day time but it would go away in its own. Day 19-21 was a constant state of acid reflux (let me tell you its the worst feeling ever). Baking soda was a temporary relief but no permanent fix. And lemon and apple cider wasn’t working either. I am all for listening to my body there fore I should have ended the fast sooner. I bit the bullet today after feeling miserable for a good half of sunday and ended the fast at day 21. I will go back to keto for a few weeks. Ramadan starts in the third week of march anyways so that will be a natural transition back into fasting. I will also start hitting the gym again which I wasn’t during fasting (I didn’t want to overdo it)

Redeeding plan Day 1: chicken/bone broth and Skyr

Day 2: broth and skyr with some kimchi

Day 3: broth, eggs, skyr, kimchi and some nuts

Day 4: eggs and boiled chicken

Some thoughts: a lot of folks talk about mental clarity during fasting. That was not the case for me unfortunately. I did not have exhaustion or brain fog but I had a lot of demotivation when working and was not giving it my 100%. Fasting did help me realize how I use food as a fix for boredom and that was rather sad. I will try to adopt better eating habits after this. Also its incredible how much money you save when you’re not impulsively eating all the time. This reddit has been super helpful with its wealth of information - thanks all.

Thank you for sharing your fasting journey. I’m on the evening of day 3 of a 21 day fast. I know the next few days will be hard but I’m glad to hear after this it’s smoother. Congrats on your weight loss and good luck during Ramadan :)
