Fasting - Diarrhea - Mistakes were made

I’ve been doing 16:8 IF for about 6 weeks. I’ve had no issues and loved it. Wednesday I had a very small dinner (wasn’t hungry) then I took my 16 hour fast. Thursday my work catered hibachi for Lunch.

Long story short, after some vomiting and a lot of diarrhea that hit 45 mins after eating - I’ve learned my lesson about slowly eating healthy food. I scarfed it down too fast.

How long does this last? I’m still feeling like garbage 20 hours later.

Things like this are so unique to the individual that is it exceedingly difficult to make assessments. That is why you learn so much from trial and error in this gig, as there is no one size fits all.

I recall back in the day when the doom and gloom folks told me that breaking an extended fast with anything other than bone broth was sure to do me in. Over time I found out that, at least for my own bod, that was all bullshit. I broke my last extended fast with 5 Guys and washed it down with a salted caramel shake afterwards. I credit my strong stomach to my lifelong obsession with extremely spicy foods, hot sauces, peppers, etc. Obviously your mileage will vary.

In your situation, if one type of food leads to bad outcomes, then you know to adjust accordingly and move forward.
